MY STORY: I just want to pop in briefly to say that I won't be sharing much about myself today. I don't feel inclined to share anything in particular as I'm going through a lot internally. I want to be open with you as I am enduring this because I don't want to always share that I went through a difficult time and was able to overcome it. I want you to know that this is what I am currently going through and have yet to find a solution. Please bear with me during this time.
REN'S STORY: Gözde is the founder of Ren, which offers minimal, comfortable, and timeless women's clothes. Their first collection is called Ursula, inspired by Ursula Le Guin, a writer who said, “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” Gözde designs, drafts patterns, and cuts the fabric of every piece they produce and it is then sewn by their craftsman Tekin, who has been a tailor for 25 years, in their studio in Istanbul, Turkey. At Ren, they believe in the power of being connected, which is why they build relationships with all the suppliers and artisan they work with. Each piece is made from natural fiber deadstock fabric such as cotton, linen, and tencel. They strive to minimize production waste by creating zero-waste patterns, reusing leftover fabrics for other projects. I love the way the Ursula top feels and the way it fits on me, which is part of their mission to enable wearers to cherish their unique bodies.
